Hello! Nice to meet you
I'm Nea
As a creative at heart, I've been fascinated by photography for as long as I can remember. I have memories from when I was little of seeing my grandfather's film camera, with it's gold and blue knitted strap, and being so curious about it and how it worked. Later, in high school I took a photo development course and marvelled at the process of creating film photos. My friends and I would also frequently purchase those cheap disposable cameras (fellow Millennials remember!) and do photo-shoots in a friend's basement, or snap pics at our Friday-night parties (let's be honest - the photos probably weren't great).
A few years ago, I finally purchased my first DSLR camera. Photography became a great creative outlet, and a means to help mend burnout I was experiencing at the time. I started doing photo sessions with friends, family, and my pets (who always make great subjects!), and decided that I wanted to do this more seriously, so Fern and Echo Photography was born. Since then, every day I'm grateful that I get to capture people at their best and in their most important moments - whether that might be a first look at a wedding, a maternity session, or a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary, I'm here for it.
I live on Vancouver Island with my husband, step-kids, and pets. I often can be found hiking, gardening, paddle-boarding, or rock-hounding along the beach . I love a good cappuccino (with oat milk) and am always searching for the best banana bread around. I live for summer and love the heat, though I seldom get sick of the rain. I draw inspiration from books, films, and music (ask me what I'm listening to or what the last concert I attended).
